Information
The South Carolina Governor’s Quality Award Conference is
held annually in October to present the South Carolina Governor’s
Quality
Award. Additional awards presented at
the conference are the Milliken Medal of Quality and the South Carolina
Champion of Excellence. Recognition is
also given to companies participating in the South Carolina’s
Governor’s
Explorer Assessment process.
2008 Conference
Information
The South Carolina Governor’s Quality Award Conference will
be held Wednesday, October 22, 2008.
This year’s conference will be held at the Columbia
Conference Center,
169 Laurelhurst Avenue, Columbia, SC with the theme of Customer
Service: A Passion for Excellence.
The conference will begin
with a
continental breakfast at 7:45am followed by the opening welcome and
overview of
the conference session. David Porter,

Baldrige Award Winner is scheduled as the morning’s keynote
speaker. Following that will be the
concurrent breakout sessions featuring BMW Manufacturing Company, 2007
Baldrige
Award Winner Sharp HealthCare, and Harland-Clarke.
A refreshment break will follow then presentations
highlighting
South Carolina applicants with the focus on sharing best practices.
Immediately
following the morning sessions, participants
will gather for the luncheon that recognizes the conference sponsors,
partners,
and volunteers. Volunteers include
individuals who have served as examiners, judges, steering committee
members,
and the advisory board.
After the luncheon we will continue with our afternoon
keynote speaker, from Sharp HealthCare.
Awards presentations will finalize the day with 3rd
District
Congressional Representative J. Gresham Barrett and Dr. Harry Hertz,
Executive
Director, Baldrige National Quality Program presiding.
Individual presentations include the
Milliken Medal of Quality and the Champion of Excellence Award along
with the
Gold, Silver and Bronze Achiever awards and the 2008 Governor’s Quality
Award.
